Is almost killing a person accepted in society? Than why is it in hockey?

I agree. Something like that should go beyond the punishment of the league.

the trend is disturbing, you would think after the Bertuzzi incident that players would open their eyes. Forget suspension, I think there should be a criminal charge on Cormier

Furthermore...I don't know why Cormier was captain for team Canada. Eberle or Hall should have been captain. Cormier took too many stupid penalties.

"I am boycotting hockey. Unless, of course, the TML's start winning" HAHA...I love it. I haven't watched much hockey either since the Oiler's blow this year. Oh well...at least we may get the nice draft pick :) lol

With regards to his junior career, he'll probs be with NJD next season or their AHL affiliate, and I don't think suspensions should carry over from junior to pro or league to league unless they happen near or at the end of the season or tournament. We're talking about Cormier also possibly missing out on the Memorial Cup tournament, which is fine with me and is in addition to those 48 games I believe! AAAALLLL that being said, you are right, this stuff needs to be eliminated from the game because it is not pretty and actually quite disturbing. I can hardly watch that play anymore, due to Mikael Tam convulsing on the ice being so...graphic. Good broadcast though! :)

1/2 Woah, woah, woah, boycotting hockey Megatron? I know you said that was a strong word somewhere below, but you and I both know that this is a beautiful game and possibly the best on earth. I agree it is sad and disgraceful that some players feel like they have the authority if you will to deliver such a dirty hit, but the amount of players who actually deliver hits like the one you showed, which is disgusting mind you, is a very small amount. Yes, we had the 2 junior hits this month, from Cormier and Kassian, and yes there are all the dirty hits in the NHL, but this is a contact sport, and as RD said, there are split second decisions you have to make throughout the game, and not to condone what Cormier did, but this is a fact of the game. I did not realise the R-N coach had said that in defense of Cormier, and I totally disagree, potentially 48 games is not more than enough and to an extent, I think the suspension is just right.

It's almost impossible to rule out all incidents that can happen. They may have to remove hitting in the open ice, or even all together, which will create a whole new series of problems. I agree that the handling of the Bertuzzi-Moore incident was a joke. There has to be zero tolerance on a deliberate attempt to seriously injure offender. Tough one to figure out, lot's of grey areas... c'mon O-Pete-Wan-Kenobi, you ALWAYS have the answers lol!

well perhaps boycotting was a strong word... but quite honestly i have the right as a fan to choose which sports I watch, and I have no need to give any sport a chance if I wish not to. The Bertuzzi incident really openned my eyes, and the way they handled the Moore situation was really sickening!

Obviously, neither of you have ever played the game of hockey. There is much more to it, than just putting the puck in the net. When you play a highly competitive and fast sport, there are several quick decisions to be made every second, and you need to be aware of things around you at all times. I understand your grief Megatron, I want dirty plays out of the league too, and I think that the stiff penalties are a step in the right direction. Do you have another solution other than just boycotting the sport as a fan?

i agree with Brian on this one, it's a different situation. Two combatants going in mano a mano is different than a flying elbow coming in blind side. Also, the point of hockey is to put the put in the net, not to lay a guy out. RD, I have to disagree with you on this one 100%
