While I certainly don't think Shields is on a level with Jon Fitsch, I do agree with you that he's not super thrilling in the cage. I guess that doesn't come across very well, what I meant by spicing up the lackluster MW division is Anderson Silva's held that belt for a long, long time now, and someone needs to take it from him. A guy like Shields who can take him down and control him is the best bet. That's kind of what I implied. Plus, the talent pool is real thin in that weight class, so any talented fighter showing up and competing there can't do anything but help.

For one thing I think Jake belongs at WW and I'd like to see him match grappling with GSP. For another I am very excited about a fight between Silva and Belfort and I'd hate to see any chance of that being ruined by Shields stepping in and laying on Belfort. Face it Shields is very talented but also very boring and lackluster, he won't be spicing anything up at MW
