There was another big hitting big man that the Jays abandonned, his name was Cecil Fielder, and look what he ended up doing for the Tigers. I think the justification here is that Lyle Overbay is a greater trade bait as the season progresses, and a 32 year old career journeyman just doesn't fit into the Jays' rebuilding plans. But I like your argument, and at the moment, the Jays sit 19-14 trailing the Yanks by 3.5 games and the Rays by 4. If they keep this up, I will find it hard for the brass to justify sitting Ruiz down. I am now a Randy Ruiz fan! lol
