2011 NHL All-Star Game Rosters - Additions & Deletions

You have got to hand it to the NHL. They're always thinking of new ways to try and spark interest in non-traditional hockey markets South of the border. First it was the glowing puck for those unable to differentiate between white ice and a black cylindrical figure, then it was introducing shoot-outs to abolish ties in the game and now they're letting designated captains - most likely Crosby and Ovechkin - become fantasy GMs for the upcoming all-star game at the RBC Centre in Carolina. I'm still uncertain as to how I feel about the idea but the game's outcome, unlike the MLB's mid-season classic, is virtually meaningless. Having players from the same NHL team be on opposing all-star teams is somewhat intriguing, but it was already done when North America took on the World back in 1999 when it took place in Tampa Bay. The defense will be non-existent and overall play will be uninspired. Regardless, it is quite an accomplishment to be included in the list of 42 players in this fantasy draft. Here are the guys I think should've been added and deleted to and from the roster:

ADD:

Ryan Whitney - 27 points and a plus 13 for a defenceman on a team that is in rebuilding mode to the nth degree

Mikhail Grabovski - has vastly improved all facets of his game and his production on the ice recently has been top notch

Henrik Zetterberg - 6th in the NHL in scoring

Nicklas Backstrom - his 38 points place him higher than a large number of forwards on the roster

DELETE:

Ales Hemsky - Almost a point per game but Whitney has been more impressive

Phil Kessel - Grabovski has had the better season

Patrick Kane - 33 points and a -7 just isn't worthy of any accolades

Duncan Keith - has been a shadow of his play from last year; needs to pick it up if the 'Hawks are going anywhere

Did I miss anyone? Let's hear what you have to say!
