Jays open to players -- say, Manny -- with baggage?

To say that this is going to be one of the most interesting offseasons in recent memory for the Toronto Blue Jays would be an understatement. The acquisition of OF Rajai Davis last week was surprising, but not earth shattering. Given the fact that the team has one of the most solid young cores in Major League Baseball and a finite budget, it is imperative that the Jays' front office spend wisely.

Enter: Manny Ramirez. Perhaps the American League's most potent bat over the last 10 years...and potent personality in the lockerroom in that same time frame. Unfortunately, "ManRams" will neither come cheap nor without baggage. He has a great relationship with the Jays' new bench boss, John Farrell, and admittedly was a big-time blue bird supporter in the 80's - mainly because of their superstart Dominican representation (namely Bell and Fernandez).

Will bringing in Manny ruin what the Jays have built? Is he what this team needs? Will he make baseball "sexy" again in Toronto? Does this mean that Travis Snyder or Adam Lind are sent off for improved pitching?

Don't you think they're going in the right direction though? What if it cuts into Snider or Lind's playing time? Won't that go against what they're trying to accomplish here?

i think bringing him in will improve the overall team. you need a big name to come in and shake things up. these guys are too complacent right now.
