Brock is not the #1 Heavyweight in the world
First things first, Its absolutely absurd for anyone to even consider Brock Lesnar the #1 Heavyweight in the world. I like watching UFC promote Brock Lesnar as a force to be reckon with hell I even like watch his highlight reel. But unfortunately, the UFC is leading people into believeing he's the best Heavyweight in the world with a record of 5-1. So your telling me that a guy who has 0 ammateur fights, 1pro fight before fighting with UFC is eligible to submit his fight application for the chance to compete with Fedor Emelianenko; because he's the biggest draw in the UFC? That is the perfect definition of absurd, in this situation.
Veteran fighters such as Josh Barnett and Anotonio Rodrigo Nogueira have been forced to the back seat by Brock-Mania due to the lack of popularity in comparisson to Brock. It's completely unfair and is a huge issue that needs to be resolved. I understand money talks in UFC, but what about the disrespcet shown to Barnett and Big Nog who've been ranked as top 10 Heavy's longer than Brock's career. They deserve to be mentioned in this hunt to find the best Heavyweight in the world. Actually if it wasn't for these men, fans wouldn't even know the history of the Heavyweights in UFC which was paved by each of thier legacy's.
Brock was never mentioned as a prospect in the UFC, in fact he was given a title shot after beating Heath Herring. Which at the time was a first win for Brock. So not only is he over-hyped he made earning a title shot look effortless. How can the UFC ever have any real competitors in the Heavy weight division if they constantly disrespect the guys who put in the hard work to win fights one at a time? However, Brock losses his UFC debut via tapout 1st round to Frank Mir and then fighting for the #1 contender spot for the Heavy weight title.
The UFC seem to block out prospects (fighters who are on a winning streak to earn a title shot eventually) in their organization for lack of name value but award a rookie to MMA a title shot with a record of 1-1. If this isn't absurd then I don't know what it.

Name a prospect capable of doing what Brock is doing. You can't, and you also failed to mention who deserves the number one spot ahead of him. The HW division is in a state of flux and the best guys are new, Shane Carwin, Cain Junior and Brock are all new fighters beating established names. The best fighters of earlier times are fading so no it's not absurd a guy with 5-1 record is champion. The HW division was dead a few years ago and with Brock's emergence and others it is deeper and higher profile than ever. I wish more people appreciated Brock's impact and accomplishments in a short time rather than pointless complaints. That is truly absured

Unfortunately that's not how rankings work. It's all based on who you beat and when. Bottom line. I'd pick Fedor and Velasquez over Brock at this point but until they actually beat him, Brock is #1.
