Montreal Canadians over the Washington Capitals? That would be a disaster for the NHL

WOW! Did anyone else catch game 6 of this incredible series between the Washington Capitals and the Montreal Canadians? Jaroslav Halak looks like the real deal, and quite frankly Mr. Carey Price, I think you should be demanding a trade to somewhere because La Belle Province just found their new Patrick Roy. Maybe the Leafs??? hmmm...

But this is where I burst the bubble for all the lungs filled with gleeful, ecastatic helium. No matter how great game 7 would be, and no matter how great the Montreal Canadians look, it would be disastrous for the NHL and Gary Bettman to have them move on past the Capitals.

And we all know why....the greatest rivalary in hockey right now is Pittsburg vs. Washington....Penguins vs. Caps, Crosby vs. Ovechkin. The Canadian superstar with all the right tools vs. the one man wrecking crew from Russia.

Let's face it, teh NHL needs large US cities to fight it out for the cup. ESPN, NBC, Fox, no major network will take on contracts year after year if they can't sell advertising via US advertising market. That's the reason the NFL doesn't really want a team in Toronto, how does that help the TV revenue? So what Bettman wants, and he's not wrong for thinking this...he needs to major US hockey markets to go at it in the next round. New York and Los Angeles would be GREAT, but Pittsburgh, Washington, Phili, they're not so bad as second tier, heck a lot better than Montreal or Ottawa.

So you die hard Canadian hockey fans, I know you want a Canadian team to get through, but if you truly love Hockey and wants to see the NHL thrive, you'll be cheering for the hated Russian in the nations capital!

No denying Crosby vs Ovechkin is an epic rivalry which I wouldn't mind seeing.....again! But Montreal has honestly the loudest building in the NHL, even louder than Vancouver or any other team. I can tell every time I watch a game. They don't wanna see Crosby vs Ovechkin if it means that les Habitonts will be eliminated. That's so unfair to say because off the dedication Montreal fans show. Montreal deserves to advance just as much as any team.

I can't say I like Bettman too much either. BUT I do want to see Crosby vs. Ovechkin, that'll be one helluva a series! Congrats on Vancouver, they'll be matched up against Chicago next, a tough series for sure!

That's how I really feel. I hate Gary Bettman. Despise him with a passion! He's taken enough hockey away from Canada!

Wow, I can't beleive Montreal, this would be a huge upset! You had me Megatron until you started talking about Bettman. The sad truth is you're right, and as a hockey fan, I think it's best for Washinton to win, but I'm a Canadian first, and Montreal was once my first love so GO HABS GO! Good on Halak for stepping it up.

Screw Gary Bettman and Screw "American Revenue." This is Canada's game, so Canada's fans deserve to see a Canadian team get through. If Montreal wins game 7, well they earned it and it'll be a helluva Pens vs Habs series to follow. The Canucks are through to the 2nd round, you think I want Chicago to win just so Gary Bettman can be happy? NO! Gary Bettman can go you know what himself and shove his american franchises up his ass. We shouldn't have Phoenix, Florida, Carolina, Nashville, Columbus, or Atlanta. It's all bullshit. The NHL needs more teams in Canada and if that means American television revenues will take a hit for the NHL, then so be it. If Americans don't want to pay attention to hockey, fine. Canadians would put as much revenue into the damn teams up here, as Americans would to an American team down south. Again, screw Gary Bettman because it's more like he owes the Canadian fans instead of the other way around!
