As much as is it's nice to let the fans have their say in the game, because they are the consumers, they should not be selecting the STARTERS for the all star game. There is absolutely no way Allen Iverson should be a starter because it SHOULD be based mostly on production so far in the season. What I propose, is have the fans vote for the reserves, not the starters. I am with SG on this one but I would also like to see the title end with "starters." Again, the All Star game should be about who is playing like an All Star at the time of the ASG, not who a large group of fans from a huge city or hometown that have a giant hard on for a particular player just because they're an old has-been a la Iverson. I give the guy credit for coming back and sticking in the game like he has but he's not an All-Star!

Let's be clear on something fellas. NBA All Star voting is a popularity contest first and foremost and has nothing to do with production or the number of games played. From a business standpoint, it makes sense to have the people consuming your product have a say in what they want to see. There's no better way of creating brand loyalty. It's also generating buzz and getting people to talk about the brand. The real problem with All Star voting is that there are so few spots (unlike football) and to prove this, wait til the reserves get announced. I can gurantee that there will undoubtedly be someone left off the squad that should have got on and then you'll hear that the coaches got it wrong. There is no full proof system. If the All Star meant something like it does in baseball then I'd have a different stance but since its meant as fun until the 4th quarter - then knock yourself out - just make sure to give me at least one decent highlight!

My vote goes to Guru how the hell should fans who vote for Allen Iverson and Kevin Garnett as All-Star Starters over guys like Chris Bosh, Rajon Rondo, Derrick Rose, Gerald Wallace, etc.... its ridiculious and I'm a FAN saying this gotta go with guru sorry Audley
