The NHL Should Get Rid of the Instigator Rule

In light of all the EXTRA violent incidents in hockey this season, I believe the instigator rule SHOULD be ruled out!

(2/2) spots and divisional champions right at the end of the season. I'm obviously a huge canucks fan and last season when the NW division wasnt decided until I think game 81 0r 82 was one of the most exciting parts of the season. Vancouver cathcing Calgary from 14 points back on February 1st, thats incredibly exhilarating and inspiring to watch as a fan and if wins in regulation had been worth 4 points, maybe Calgary would've been ahead by28 points and Vancouver would not have played as well down the stretch and there wouldnt've been a battle for the NW championship that was exciting as there was. Ya see what I'm saying. DAMMIT, i wish I coulda got into this battle while it was going, my damn computer was in the shop. Anyways....until next time. PEACE!

i know this is late and while i will admit that i agree with both of you on some points, i must say that 4 points for a regulation win is absurd. Rodney mentioned at one point in his rebuttal video that if a game is tied with 5 minutes to go, a team is not going to open it up to try and get that 1 goal before the end of regulation because if they open up too much, and make one mistake, the other team is gonna get a breakaway and score and thats a 4 point difference to the losing team, so instead of getting 3 points by getting to OT, they are stuck with ZERO. This will henceforth dilute the competition between divisional and conference rivals because you will see more games where a team is leaping ahead 4 whole points from another team and therefore making it harder for those teams who say have a slump or bad start to the season, to catch up when its the home stretch of the season. One of the most exciting things of the NHL is watching the rivalries and matchups that decide playoff
