I like where you're going with this Yanks fan, I think introducing another rule like the salary cap would further muddy the waters of an already dangerous situation for MLB. MLB is losing fans by the year, and not sure if salary cap to hinder teams who want to win would really help the matter.

Another thing to think about is this. You see, everything in this world is profit driven. Although its a cynical view, it is a true one and you must understand that everything, even our beloved sports is a business at its core. The 2010 Yankees will spend as much as most other teams combined. But guess what, they'll make the same amount back and then some. Its because of this that baseball has been able to remain so prevalent in today's sports world. If New York, Boston, and L.A. were not good then they would probably be were the NBA is now or even worse, the NHL. The NFL gets a free pass because it is truly America's favorite sport, so it doesn't matter if the Cowboys or the Rams are good because it will do well either way. Unfortunately the MLB does not have this privilege.

The truth is that a salary cap would add nothing to the game. I know I probably just sound like a selfish Yankee fan or something along those lines, but first think of this. Logan Sports Talk ,you say teams like the Yankees and the Red Sox buy championships. Yet since free agency has started they have only won 9 championships. The Twins have won 2. The Blue Jays have won 2. Even your "lowly" Royals have won one, and two pennants. The Diamondbacks even won 1. Yet big market teams like the Mets, Phillies, Angels, and Dodgers have only won a combined 2 since 1989, the same amount as the Marlins have since 97.

yes yes yes, everyone talks about a salary cap and you're right the way it is now is not the answer....but what about other ways? like rev sharing?

Living in Toronto we've been suffering the wrath of Boston and New York and it is killing us!!! Tampa had a one hit wonder, but they were crap for ever-and-a-half... MLB needs the cap... badly!!!
