NHL loves headshots
For
Against
The NHL loves headshots. They say they don't, but they do. Year after year they argue about getting it out of the game. But nothing ever changes. Headshots are how the NHL likes to roll.

this was a tough battle to come up with a strong argument for the "FOR" side, and Zazu did just that. He came out and gave pretty good reasons why the NHL loves headshots, so my vote goes for him, since his side of the battle was tougher, and he gave an excellent argument. Sorry MEgatron, lol

@Megatron - Well I think another factor is the NHL, the oweners, Gary Bettman's crew, is very much a old boy's club. I mean look at what happened to Jim B...epic fail hahaha. They know the fans don't like it but still know we will pay almost anything to see inferior product (aka Leafs the past decade) esp in Canada. I feel the NHL just does whatever and lacks fan input very much so.

I agree on the fact that there is a lack of respect in this league, that's no question, and that's one of the reasons that I became less of a hockey fan (after the Todd Bertuzzi incident) that's why i think it has to begin with the younger generation, the culture of hockey must change. BUT!! you are an NHL fan, and by you saying all these things Zaz proves to me that NHL, the people that represent, the fans, are sick of it. We're all sick of these idiots head hunting. I think it's ripe for a change, the people must speak up for this to happen though, not guys like Don Cherry (i'll hold my opinion on Mr. Cherry)

@Rodney Dean - I would love to believe you but I don't. Headshots, defined by me as hits that hit another players head directly, are on the rise. Players have no respect what so ever for each other anymore. I've seen countless player interviews with media have occurred where players talk about the lack of respect in the league. The NHL has to protect its players...the players aren't policing themselves. It's the wild west out there...

The NHL does not love headshots, and they are trying to get the "dirty plays" out of the league. The problem is defining things like a headshot. If you hit a guy cleanly (arms down and skates on the ice), but the guy has his head down, is that a headshot? Blatent attempt to injure penalties must have zero tolerance, and stiffer penalties, and I remain that the responsibility lies with the players and not the league.
