Pat Quinn Fined $10,000 for remarks about Iginla's hit on Souray

For

Against

Another pretty straight forward battle. Basically I don't think that Pat Quinn should have been fined for the remarks he made about the hit on Souray by Iginla.

Quinn may have come off harsh but let coaches speak out. I always thought it's nice to let these guys vent because they should be more frustrated with players more than anyone else because they are responsible for them.

As a Leafs fan, I miss the hell out of Pat Quinn. Those comments were also very un-Quinn-like. He always speaks his mind, but usually has the common sense to not insinuate payback. It was somewhat like Brad May on the Moore hit on Naslund.....you can't let leaders in the game vaguely threaten people.

damn...I agree and disagree with both points. However, I do believe that coaches should be free to say somethings. it's a grey area for sure, but at what point will the league go too far? I agree with Darkstar's argument on this one, media is hounding you for tidbits, you can't fault a coach for talking about the past. Have some backbone man, that's what i say!

good battle guys. as much as i wanted to see someone hit Iginla hit over the head with a stick for that stupid and INTENTIONAL move i do agree that coaches shouldnt be making comments like that. BUT he was simply talking about the past and not what should have happened to Iginla. i wanna see the rebuttal before i vote.

Haha. Good to see you giving it a shot. You're winning at the moment though :).

I'm not a Pat Quinn hater. And do you want to know the real reason why i picked this up? Because it was an accident LOL i pressed accept not knowing that i fully accepted the challenge. I could have forfeited, but I thought why not give it a shot.

I'm glad that someone picked this up because I know there are some Pat Quinn haters out there. However, Pat Quinn did not say anything to the officials; it was to the press. The only thing he said was that in the olden days that player would have gotten hit over the head with a stick...end of story. He didn't say anything about what should have happened to Iginla. What he was saying is that the punishment wasn't severe enough...like any coach would have said because nobody wants to see a player get their face driven into the boards like that. :)
