Keep in mind Dana and the Frittita brothers started out in 1993. This whole UFC phenomenon didn't just happen over night. So for someone to just come in and be successful right off the bat is a tall task to ask of anyone. We need to give guys like Cuban and Trump a little time to become successful before we immediately write them off.

It might have looked like I agreed with EBW, but I actually agree with jhabeeb - but it doesn't have to be Cuban or Trump - just people like them. Visionaries with cash to invest; not butn! +1 jhabeeb!

you're right jhabeeb. Every sport needs funding. They'd be good sources because you know they have too much to do to get involved too highly. So i agree with you.

My point really is people like Trump or Cuban would be the money men just like the Frittita brothers. They would definitely need help of course but they would also be a valuable part of any promotional team. My major point is the competition thing. Dana White has too much power in MMA. We need to have other competitve organizations to go along with the UFC. I would really like to see copromoted events also.

I agree that it doesn't need to be Cuban or Trump, but someone backing the sport silently even - just to get another org over the top to create that healthy competition and foster growth, expansion, and innovation from all promotions. There needs to be a money man, unfortunately, in this game - to play with the big boys (the UFC, backed by the hotel/casino empire of the Frettitas), you gotta throw at least some money around.

Competition is good for the sport of MMA but when rich d-bags provide that, it usually doesn't become legitimate competition. You usually end up with crap like Sportfight or Adrenaline MMA.

alright, so this was exactly what i was trying to say when i was in that battle "is dana white bad for the growth of MMA"....i don't like monopolies, and i don't want to see a sport follow the direction of one man, cause inevitably , that one man will make mistakes. Less checks and balances....It doesn't have to be Trump or Cuban, it can be someone LIKE them...a league of promoters, getting fights together! yeahhh
