Ha! I will graciously award Mega an "Also Ran" prize for this one due to people voting in his favour after the fact. Honestly, I see this one going to Penn maybe 6-7 out of 10 times they fight, but I see Aoki raising his game each time while Penn rests on his laurels.

I gotta say I don't think Aoki could take Penn. Penn's striking is much better, he has heavy hands, and his takedown defense is really amazing. I even think that Penn's jits is good enough to defend against Aoki's sub attempts. Of course Aoki COULD catch BJ in one of his submissions, I just see BJ beating up Aoki on the feet and getting the TKO.

If I saw this before, I woulda tied this up. Aoki has a chance but he has problems with guys that rush him and hit him early. Plus, Aoki doesn't have the best chin. If B.J comes guns a blazing early like Hansen or Sakurai, he takes this easy.

My kids are 5 and 1.5 - the 5 year old takes Karate and BJJ already lol. The 1.5 year old has a mean front kick!

I think Aoki is more proficient on the ground. BJ would smash Aoki standing no doubt, but this would be a great matchup. Aoki is very elusive and all around tough. Can't count him out so easy. Plus he was an outstanding Japanese judoka which means he has a standup game.
